Michael Ibrahim enjoys an active career of solo, chamber, and orchestral work in both contemporary and traditional realms. In praise of Michael's solo recording, Saxophone Journal wrote, "The listener is in for an exciting musical ride." Noted for his "sheer virtuosity and musical intensity" (Calgary Herald), Michael has established himself as an adventurous figure among today's younger generation of classical saxophonists.
Michael has won numerous competitions including the North American Saxophone Alliance Competition and the Eisenberg-Fried Concerto Competition for Woodwinds, the MTNA Competition, and the Coleman Chamber Music Competition. As a soloist, Michael has performed in France, Russia, Italy, Germany, Austria, and Holland.
In addition to Fireworks, Michael has appeared with the Manhattan Sinfonietta, PRISM Saxophone Quartet, SEM Ensemble, TACTUS, Riot, Red Light New Music, Amp, Long Island Concert Pops Orchestra, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie. Michael's teachers include Karen Finnsson, Jeremy Brown, John Sampen, Claude Delangle, Marcus Weiss, and Paul Cohen. He currently serves on faculty at Columbia University and West Virginia University.
